What You'll Need

  • Device: iPhone (iOS 15+) or Android phone/tablet (Android 10+) with measureQuick installed
  • App version: v3.5 or later
  • Account: A measureQuick account (see Installing the measureQuick App)
  • Subscription: Some features (mQ+ button customization) require Premier Services ($49/user/month)
  • Time: 5-10 minutes to review and adjust settings

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Open Display Settings

  1. Open the measureQuick app.
  2. Tap the Settings gear icon.
  3. Scroll to the Display Settings section.

Display settings control the visual behavior of the app on your device. These are personal preferences and do not affect diagnostic data or report output.

Step 2: Configure Core Display Toggles

Keep Screen Awake - Toggle ON to prevent your device screen from timing out while measureQuick is open. During active testing, this keeps your readings visible without needing to wake your phone or tablet.

Joe Medosch's recommendation: ON. Screen timeout during a diagnostic test interrupts your workflow and can cause confusion about whether probes are still connected.

Show Touch Indicators - Toggle ON to display visual indicators where you tap the screen. This is primarily useful when recording screen demonstrations or training someone by sharing your screen.

Joe Medosch's recommendation: OFF for field use. Turn ON only when recording or presenting.

mQ Assist Button Enlarger - Toggle ON to increase the size of the mQ Assist (AI chat) button. If you find the default button hard to tap, especially on smaller phone screens, this makes it a larger target.

Joe Medosch's recommendation: OFF unless you prefer a larger button.

Step 3: Configure Split Screen View (Tablets)

Split Screen View is designed for tablet-sized screens. It displays two panels side by side, allowing you to see more information at once.

  1. Toggle Split Screen View to ON.
  2. Toggle Guided Workflow Split Screen to ON if you want the workflow checklist in one panel and the test screen in the other.
  3. Set Split View Size to control the panel ratio:
    • Half - 50/50 split; both panels equal size
    • Third - 33/67 split; smaller panel for the checklist, larger for the test data
    • Quarter - 25/75 split; minimal checklist panel, maximum test data area
  4. Toggle Gauges On Left if you prefer the gauge panel on the left side instead of the default right side.

Joe Medosch's recommendation: ON for tablets. Use Half or Third depending on your screen size. Keep Guided Workflow Split Screen ON to track workflow progress while viewing live test data.

Phone vs. tablet behavior: On phones, Split Screen View has limited use because the screen width is too narrow to display two useful panels. The setting is available but works best on iPads and Android tablets with 10-inch or larger screens. On phones, stick to the single-panel default view and swipe between screens.

Step 4: Configure the mQ+ Floating Button (Premier Services)

The mQ+ button is a floating action button that provides quick access to common tools during a test. This section requires a Premier Services subscription ($49/user/month).

Button Color: Green (default), Orange, Blue, Gray, or "Experimental Multiverse of Colors" (cycles through colors).

Button Location: Right (default) or Left side of the screen.

Shortcut Toggles - Each toggle controls whether a specific shortcut appears in the mQ+ button menu:

Shortcut Default Purpose
Profile Button ON Quick access to profile settings
Streaming Button ON Start a live data stream to a supervisor or colleague
Notes Button ON Add notes to the current test
Photos Button ON Take or attach photos to the current project
Electrical Button ON Access electrical measurement fields
Corrective Actions Button ON Record corrective actions taken during service
Help Button ON Access help resources and mQ Assist

Joe Medosch's recommendation: Leave all shortcuts ON. The mQ+ button is designed for quick access during active testing; removing shortcuts reduces its utility.

Step 5: Configure Notification Settings

Scroll to the Notification Settings section.

Show Pop-up When Required Field(s) are Missing - Toggle ON to receive alerts when you try to proceed without completing required fields (equipment info, customer info, etc.).

Joe Medosch's recommendation: ON. Missing required fields lead to incomplete tests and reports.

Show Error Messages - Toggle ON to display error alerts for connection failures, sync problems, or other app issues.

Joe Medosch's recommendation: ON. Error messages are important for troubleshooting probe connections and cloud sync.

Step 6: Configure Photo Settings

Scroll to the Photo Settings section.

Setting Default Recommendation
Turn Off Photos OFF Keep OFF (photos enabled)
Save Images to Photo Album OFF OFF (saves device storage; photos are in the cloud)
Auto-sync Photos to Cloud ON ON (critical for backup and cloud access)

Joe Medosch's recommendation: Lock Photo Settings at the company level. Administrators should ensure photos are always enabled and auto-synced for documentation and liability purposes.

Tips & Common Issues

My screen keeps going dark during testing

Toggle Keep Screen Awake to ON in Display Settings. This prevents your device from sleeping while measureQuick is active. You can also adjust your device-level screen timeout in your phone or tablet's system settings.

Split screen is not working on my phone

Split Screen View is designed for tablets. On phones (screens under approximately 7 inches), the panels are too narrow to display useful information. Use the standard single-panel view on phones and swipe between screens. If you have a large phone (6.7 inches or larger in landscape), split screen may work but the experience is limited.

I do not see the mQ+ button settings

The mQ+ Button Settings section requires a Premier Services subscription ($49/user/month). If you are on the Basic Free plan, this section is not available. Upgrade your subscription at cloud.measurequick.com to access mQ+ button customization.

My photos are not appearing in the cloud

Confirm that Auto-sync Photos to Cloud is toggled ON in Photo Settings. Also verify that your device has an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular). If photos were taken offline, they will sync when connectivity is restored.

Best practices for tablet users

  • Use an iPad or 10-inch+ Android tablet for the best measureQuick experience
  • Enable Split Screen View with Guided Workflow Split Screen for workflow-based testing
  • Set Split View Size to Half for balanced panel visibility, or Third to prioritize the test data panel
  • Keep the device in landscape orientation for maximum screen real estate
