Settings: Advanced

What You'll Learn

  • Where to find Advanced Settings in the measureQuick app
  • What data export options are available and how to use them
  • How to enable diagnostic logging and troubleshooting mode
  • How to clear the app cache and what it affects
  • How to reset settings to factory defaults
  • Which advanced settings most users should leave unchanged

What You'll Need

  • Device: iPhone (iOS 15+) or Android phone/tablet (Android 10+) with measureQuick installed
  • App version: v3.5 or later
  • Account: A measureQuick account (see Installing the measureQuick App)
  • Role: Manager or Owner recommended; some options may be restricted for Technician-role users
  • Time: 10 minutes to review; changes take effect immediately

Important Note

Most users do not need to change anything in Advanced Settings. The defaults are set for standard field use. This section is primarily useful for troubleshooting issues with measureQuick support, exporting data, or resolving app performance problems.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Open Advanced Settings

  1. Open the measureQuick app
  2. Tap the Settings gear icon
  3. Scroll to the Advanced or Advanced Settings section near the bottom of the settings list

Step 2: Configure the Trending Time Limit

The Trending Time Limit controls how long the app monitors measurement changes to determine when a system has reached steady state.

Tap Trending Time Limit to choose from:

  • 2 minutes (default) - suitable for most standard service calls
  • 10 minutes - recommended for variable-speed and multi-stage systems
  • 30 minutes - extended monitoring for complex or slow-stabilizing systems
  • 1 hour - long-duration monitoring
  • 2 hours - maximum duration for extended performance evaluation

This setting affects how long the stability indicator on the Diagnostics screen takes to confirm stable readings (see Understanding Diagnostic Screens). A longer trending time provides more confidence that the system has truly stabilized but requires the technician to wait longer before finalizing the evaluation.

Step 3: Data Export Options

Advanced Settings includes options for exporting test and project data from the app.

Export Test Data:

  1. Navigate to Advanced Settings > Data Export
  2. Select the project or test you want to export
  3. Choose the export format (CSV, PDF report, or raw data)
  4. Tap Export and select a destination (email, cloud storage, or local file)

Exported data includes all measurements, timestamps, probe identifiers, equipment details, and pass/fail results. CSV exports are useful for importing data into spreadsheets or external analysis tools.

Cloud Data Access: Test data is also accessible through cloud.measurequick.com, where you can view, filter, and export project records from a browser. The cloud dashboard provides additional reporting and fleet-level analytics not available in the mobile app.

Step 4: Enable Diagnostic Logging

Diagnostic logging captures detailed app activity for troubleshooting purposes. Enable this only when directed by measureQuick support.

  1. Scroll to Diagnostic Logging in Advanced Settings
  2. Toggle Enable Logging ON
  3. Reproduce the issue you are troubleshooting
  4. Return to Advanced Settings and tap Send Logs
  5. The app packages the log file and attaches it to an email addressed to measureQuick support
  6. Toggle logging OFF after sending

Diagnostic logging increases local storage usage and may slightly reduce app performance. Do not leave it enabled during normal use.

Step 5: Clear App Cache

The cache stores temporary data, including synced photos, downloaded project metadata, and probe connection history. Clearing it can resolve performance issues or free up device storage.

  1. Scroll to Clear Cache in Advanced Settings
  2. Tap Clear Cache
  3. Confirm the action

What clearing the cache does:

  • Removes locally cached photos that have already synced to the cloud
  • Clears temporary files and metadata
  • Resets probe connection history (you may need to re-pair probes)

What it does not do:

  • Does not delete your account, projects, tests, or cloud-synced data
  • Does not change your settings or preferences
  • Does not remove the app or require reinstallation

[Visual Reference] A confirmation dialog appears asking you to confirm the cache clear action. Tap Confirm to proceed. This removes temporary files only and does not affect your account, projects, or settings.

Step 6: Reset to Defaults

If settings have been changed and you want to return to the original configuration:

  1. Scroll to Reset to Defaults in Advanced Settings
  2. Tap Reset
  3. Confirm the action

This resets all app settings (units, display, reports, photos, advanced) to their factory defaults. It does not delete projects, tests, or account data. After resetting, review your unit preferences (B4) and report settings (B6) to reconfigure them.

[Visual Reference] A confirmation dialog warns that all app settings will be returned to factory defaults. Tap Confirm to proceed. Projects, tests, and account data are not affected.

Step 7: Additional Advanced Options

Depending on your app version and subscription tier, Advanced Settings may also include:

  • Background Sync Interval - controls how frequently the app syncs data in the background
  • Probe Auto-Reconnect - enables automatic reconnection to previously paired Bluetooth probes when they come into range
  • Developer Mode - hidden option for internal testing; do not enable unless directed by measureQuick support

Tips & Common Issues

The app is running slowly

Clear the cache (Step 5). If the issue persists, check your device's available storage. measureQuick needs adequate free space for photo storage and data processing. Closing other apps running in the background may also help.

I cleared the cache and now my probes are not connecting

Clearing the cache resets probe connection history. Go to the measurement screen, tap the probe pairing area, and re-pair your Bluetooth instruments. See Connecting Smart HVAC Tools for pairing instructions.

I accidentally reset to defaults

Your projects and test data are safe. Only app settings were reset. Reconfigure your preferences starting with Settings: Units of Measure and Settings: Reports.

Should I leave diagnostic logging on all the time?

No. Diagnostic logging is a troubleshooting tool that consumes storage and may affect performance. Enable it only when reproducing a specific issue for support, then turn it off.

An advanced setting is grayed out

Some advanced options require Manager or Owner role permissions. If you are logged in as a Technician, ask your company administrator to make the change. Company-level advanced settings can also be managed from cloud.measurequick.com.

Demo Mode vs. Demo Data

These two features are separate and serve different purposes. This distinction caused significant confusion across multiple live training events (Events 10, 12, 13), so it is worth clarifying here.

Demo Mode bypasses probe requirements entirely. The app runs without any connected instruments. You can navigate every screen, start workflows, and explore the interface as if probes were connected, but no real or simulated measurements appear. Demo Mode is for sales demonstrations and familiarization with the app layout.

  • Enable: Settings > Advanced Settings > Demo Mode > ON
  • Turn it off before running real tests.

Demo Data provides pre-populated readings from a simulated scenario (for example, the "AC Overcharge TXV" scenario) so you can see what a real test looks like with actual values in every field. Demo data populates temperatures, pressures, superheat, subcooling, and diagnostic results.

  • Apply: Settings > Apply Demo Data > select a scenario
  • Demo data is overridden by any active probe. If a probe is connected, its live reading replaces the demo value for that measurement channel.
  • A demo data indicator icon is planned for a future release to make it visually clear when demo data is active.

In short: Demo Mode is "no probes needed." Demo Data is "fake readings for practice." You can use Demo Data without Demo Mode, and you can use Demo Mode without Demo Data. They are independent settings.
