Background: What Is ACCA QI?

ACCA Quality Installation is a certification program from the Air Conditioning Contractors of America. It verifies that HVAC installations meet the standards in ACCA Manuals J (load calculation), S (equipment selection), and D (duct design). measureQuick is the only app for ACCA Quality Installation. It tracks whether an installation meets QI criteria, flags compliance gaps, and generates the documentation needed for certification. QI requires a Vitals Score of 95% or higher and passing reviews on all measured and visual subsystems.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Activate the ACCA QI Tier

QI requires a separate add-on beyond Premier. Pricing depends on your ACCA membership and QA Contractor status:

Eligibility Monthly Price
ACCA member AND QA Contractor $100/month
ACCA member OR QA Contractor $150/month
Non-member $200/month

ACCA QI is accessible to all contractors; ACCA membership is not required, but it reduces the monthly cost.

  1. Navigate to Settings > Subscription
  2. Locate the ACCA QI tier beneath your active Premier plan
  3. Review the pricing tier that applies to your company
  4. Tap Add QI Tier and confirm

The QI add-on is not available on Basic accounts. Confirm Premier is active before proceeding.

Step 2: Enter ACCA Membership Details

  1. Go to Settings > Company Settings > ACCA QI
  2. Enter your ACCA Member ID
  3. Enter your Company Name exactly as registered with ACCA
  4. Tap Save

[Visual Reference] The ACCA QI settings panel shows fields for ACCA Member ID and Company Name, with a Save button. Enter your credentials exactly as registered with ACCA.

Certificates reference this membership information. The company name here is separate from your general measureQuick company profile.

Step 3: Configure QI Requirements

measureQuick maps its measurements to ACCA QI verification criteria.

  1. In Settings > Company Settings > ACCA QI, scroll to QI Requirements
  2. Review the verification checkpoints. Measured subsystems include:
    • Electrical system
    • Air distribution (airflow, static pressure)
    • Air filtration
    • Refrigerant charge (subcooling/superheat within ACCA tolerances)
    • Cooling capacity
    • Cooling electrical efficiency Visual inspection subsystems include:
    • Condensate drain system
    • Outdoor equipment
    • Indoor equipment Additional documentation:
    • Equipment nameplate data (make, model, serial, refrigerant type)
    • Manual J load calculation documentation
    • Manual S equipment selection documentation
  3. Toggle individual requirements ON or OFF as needed
  4. Tap Save

[Visual Reference] The QI Requirements section lists each verification checkpoint (electrical, air distribution, refrigerant charge, capacity, etc.) with ON/OFF toggles. Leave all enabled unless you have a specific reason to exclude one.

Step 4: Run a QI-Eligible Workflow

Standard installation workflows gain QI tracking once the tier is active.

  1. Create a new project and select an Installation workflow (A/C, Heat Pump, or Gas Furnace)
  2. Complete the system profile with full equipment nameplate data. QI requires complete equipment identification.
  3. Connect probes and take measurements as normal
  4. After saving, navigate to the QI Status section within the project

The QI Status checklist shows each requirement color-coded:

  • Green - met
  • Red - not met (out of range)
  • Gray - missing data

Address red and gray items before generating certificates.

Step 5: Attach Supporting Documentation

  1. In the project view, tap QI Documentation
  2. Upload your Manual J load calculation (PDF or photo)
  3. Upload your Manual S equipment selection documentation
  4. Add any supporting notes or photos

[Visual Reference] The QI Documentation section provides upload areas for Manual J load calculation, Manual S equipment selection documentation, and supporting notes or photos.

Step 6: Generate QI Certificates

Once all requirements show green and documentation is attached:

  1. Tap Generate QI Certificate
  2. Select the certificate type:
    • VEO (Verified Equipment Operation) - verifies the installation is running optimally using the home's current ductwork. This is the startup verification certificate.
    • VSP (Verified System Performance) - follows ACCA Standard 5, certifying the entire system (equipment, ducts, house). Requires both a measureQuick subscription and an ACCA subscription, plus Manual J, Manual S, and AHRI certificate documentation. VSP projects must start on measureQuick Cloud > New Project > VSP.
    • Energy Star Verified Installation - a step beyond VSP with stricter requirements. Available for cooling, heating, or both.
  3. Review the preview (includes company branding, ACCA info, equipment details, measurements)
  4. Tap Generate to create the PDF
  5. Share via email, save to the project, or print

[Visual Reference] The certificate generation screen shows three certificate types: VEO (Verified Equipment Operation), VSP (Verified System Performance), and Energy Star Verified Installation. Select the appropriate type, review the preview, and tap Generate.

Certificates are stored in the project record and accessible from the cloud dashboard.

Tips & Common Issues

My company name on certificates does not match my ACCA record

The company name in ACCA QI settings must match your ACCA membership exactly. This field is separate from your general company profile name. Update it under Settings > Company Settings > ACCA QI.

QI Status shows gray items after I completed all measurements

Gray means missing data, not failed measurements. Common causes: equipment nameplate fields left blank, refrigerant type not selected, or Manual J/S documentation not attached.

Can I generate QI certificates for service calls?

No. ACCA QI applies to new installations and major system replacements. Use an Installation workflow type to access QI tracking.

How do I get the ACCA member discount?

Enter your ACCA Member ID in Step 2. Your pricing tier is determined by your ACCA membership and QA Contractor status: $100/month for ACCA members who are also QA Contractors, $150/month for ACCA members or QA Contractors, and $200/month for non-members. If the correct pricing does not appear on your next billing cycle, contact support with your Member ID.

A measurement fails a QI requirement. What do I do?

Either correct the installation and retest, or document the deviation with a note. Certificates generated with unresolved failures reflect incomplete QI compliance.

Can multiple technicians generate QI certificates?

Yes. QI is a company-level feature. Any team member running an installation workflow can access QI tracking, as long as the company has the QI add-on active.

I do not see the ACCA QI option in Settings

Confirm Premier is active and you are logged in as a Manager or Owner. The QI add-on is not visible on Basic accounts or to Technician-role users.

VEO requires Bluetooth tool measurements

The VEO certificate has rules to ensure data integrity. Bluetooth-connected tools are required for suction line temp, liquid line temp, high pressure, low pressure, supply air, return air, outdoor air, return static pressure, supply static pressure, and electrical. Manual entry is not permitted for these fields on VEO workflows. This means you need compatible smart tools to generate certificates.

What grade is required for a VEO certificate?

The system must achieve a grade of 95% or higher. All measurement-based subsystems (electrical, air distribution, air filtration, refrigerant charge, cooling capacity, cooling electrical efficiency) must automatically pass. Subjective subsystems (condensate drain, outdoor equipment, indoor equipment) require manual confirmation from the technician.
