NCI Air Upgrade Setup

NCI Air Upgrade Setup

What Is the NCI Air Upgrade?

NCI (National Comfort Institute) focuses on HVAC performance testing. Their Air Upgrade program tests airflow at each register to verify conditioned air reaches the rooms it serves. measureQuick integrates with NCI Air Upgrade to capture duct leakage, total airflow, and room-by-room delivery alongside standard diagnostics.

Requirements

  • Subscription: Active measureQuick Premier Services subscription ($49/user/month)
  • NCI add-on: NCI Option activated on your company account
  • NCI membership: Active NCI membership with Air Upgrade credentials
  • Role: Manager or Owner to enable the integration
  • Equipment: Airflow measurement tool compatible with measureQuick (TrueFlow grid, powered flow hood, or equivalent)
  • App version: measureQuick 3.5 or later

Step-by-Step Setup

Step 1: Enable NCI Air Upgrade

  1. Go to Settings > Company Settings > Integrations.
  2. Locate NCI Air Upgrade.
  3. Tap Enable.

If you do not see the option, confirm your app is v3.5+ and your subscription is Premier Services.

Step 2: Enter NCI Credentials

Enter your NCI Member ID and Company Name as registered with NCI. The company name must match your NCI registration exactly. Tap Verify and Save.

Step 3: Run an NCI Workflow

  1. Tap New Project.
  2. Select the NCI Air Upgrade workflow type.
  3. Complete the system profile.
  4. The workflow includes additional steps for duct leakage and room-by-room register measurements beyond a standard diagnostic.

What NCI Air Measures

  • Airflow Delivery - total system CFM vs Manual J design requirement
  • Duct Leakage - supply and return leakage as a percentage of system airflow
  • Comfort Delivery - room-by-room register airflow vs each room's Manual J requirement

measureQuick sends system airflow, duct leakage, register measurements, and equipment ID to NCI. NCI returns design targets and room requirements. Reports include both standard diagnostics and NCI results in a single document.

Tips & Common Issues

NCI workflow not in the selection list

Confirm the integration is enabled under Settings > Company Settings > Integrations, the app is v3.5+, and Premier Services is active.

NCI credentials not verifying

Member ID and company name must match NCI registration exactly. Check for trailing spaces or capitalization differences.

Can technicians run NCI workflows without NCI certification?

NCI Air Upgrade is enabled at the company level. Any team member can run the workflow. NCI may require certified personnel for official certification documentation.

How does NCI differ from standard airflow testing?

Standard testing captures total system airflow. NCI adds duct leakage quantification and room-by-room register measurements against design targets.
