Why Wireless Data Capture Matters

Manual data entry introduces errors. A technician reading an analog gauge, rounding to the nearest PSI, and typing that number into a form can easily be off by 5-10 PSI. That margin changes superheat and subcooling calculations enough to produce a false pass or false fail.

Smart tools eliminate that gap. When a wireless pressure probe streams data directly to the app, the reading is exact and timestamped. measureQuick receives the raw value, applies the correct refrigerant properties, and calculates superheat, subcooling, and system performance in real time. No rounding, no transcription errors, no delays.

This also means your test records are defensible. Every measurement has a timestamp, a source instrument, and a data trail. When a customer or warranty provider asks how you arrived at a diagnosis, the answer is in the test record.

measureQuick supports 37 compatible smart tools from 17 manufacturers. The rest of this article covers what those tools are, what they measure, and how they connect.


How Smart Tools Connect

Smart tools use one of three connection methods to get data into measureQuick.

Direct Connect (BLE)

Most smart tools (30 of 37) use Bluetooth Low Energy to pair directly with the measureQuick app. You turn on the tool, open the app, and the tool appears in the connection list. Data streams in real time.

BLE range varies by tool. Most work within 30-100 feet. Yellow Jacket YJACK probes have a 400-foot line-of-sight range. Fieldpiece SMAN manifolds reach up to 1,000 feet.

measureQuick can maintain 15+ simultaneous BLE connections. You can have pressure probes, temperature clamps, a psychrometer, and a clamp meter all streaming data at the same time.

App-to-App

Three tools connect through their manufacturer's app rather than directly to measureQuick:

For App-to-App tools, the manufacturer's app handles the Bluetooth connection. measureQuick reads the data from that app. Both apps must be open on your device.

QR Code

One tool uses QR code transfer:

  • Bacharach Fyrite Insight / InTech - You run the combustion test on the analyzer, then scan a QR code on the Fyrite's screen to import results into measureQuick.

This tool has been sunset (discontinued from active support). It still works if you own one, but Sauermann is the current recommended combustion analyzer.

Refrigerant Pressure & Temperature (Manifold Gauges)

These tools measure high-side and low-side refrigerant pressures and line temperatures. measureQuick uses this data to calculate superheat, subcooling, and charge status.

Temperature Probes

Temperature clamps and probes measure line temperatures, supply/return air, and ambient conditions. Most manufacturers bundle temperature probes with their pressure systems.

Humidity / Psychrometer

Psychrometers measure wet bulb and dry bulb temperatures plus relative humidity. measureQuick uses this data for airflow calculations and indoor air quality assessment.

Static Pressure & Differential Pressure

Static pressure tools measure the pressure drop across ductwork components. measureQuick uses these readings to evaluate airflow restriction and duct system performance.

Airflow Measurement

Airflow tools measure CFM at registers or through the air handler. measureQuick uses airflow data to evaluate system performance and calculate delivered capacity.

Electrical Measurement

Clamp meters and multimeters measure voltage, amperage, power factor, and wattage. measureQuick uses electrical data to calculate system efficiency and verify equipment operation.

Note on YJACK AMP: While this probe pairs with measureQuick via Bluetooth, it does not transmit amperage readings into the app. If you need wireless amp data in measureQuick, use one of the other clamp meters listed above.

Combustion Analysis

Combustion analyzers measure O2, CO, CO2, flue temperature, and stack draft. measureQuick uses this data for gas furnace and boiler diagnostics.

Sauermann is the only actively supported combustion analyzer for measureQuick.

Evacuation & Vacuum

Vacuum gauges monitor evacuation progress in microns. Scales measure refrigerant weight during charging.

The Tools Screen in measureQuick

The Tools screen shows all connected and available smart tools. To access it:

  1. Open the measureQuick app.
  2. Tap Tools from the home screen or bottom navigation.

The Tools screen displays:

  • Connected tools with live status indicators (green = streaming data, gray = disconnected)
  • Battery levels for connected instruments
  • Signal strength for each Bluetooth connection
  • Measurement values updating in real time as tools stream data

When you start a test, measureQuick automatically pulls data from all connected tools into the appropriate measurement fields. You do not need to manually assign readings.

Exploring Tools in Demo Mode

If you do not have smart tools yet, you can see what the Tools screen looks like using Demo Mode.

  1. Tap Settings (gear icon).
  2. Tap Advanced Settings.
  3. Toggle Demo Mode to ON.

Demo Mode simulates connected instruments and live data streams. You can navigate the Tools screen, see how different tool types appear, and understand the interface before purchasing hardware.

Turn Demo Mode off before running real diagnostic tests.

Tips & Common Issues

Not all tools from a manufacturer are compatible

Just because a manufacturer has one compatible tool does not mean all their products work with measureQuick. Check the tables above or the Compatible Tools page at measurequick.com before purchasing. Two specific examples: YJACK VAC (vacuum) and YJACK AMP (amperage) do not transfer their primary measurements into the app.

App-to-App tools require both apps open

TrueFlow Grid, BluVac, and iManifold connect through their manufacturer's app first. If you close the manufacturer's app, the data stops flowing into measureQuick. Keep both apps running in the foreground during testing.

Bluetooth range varies significantly

A CPS Static Pressure Meter reaches about 100 feet. A Fieldpiece SMAN reaches 1,000 feet. Yellow Jacket YJACK probes reach 400 feet. Walls, metal ductwork, and equipment cabinets reduce effective range. If you lose connection, move your phone closer to the tool or remove obstructions.

measureQuick manages Bluetooth connections to save battery

The app connects and disconnects from certain tools automatically to preserve battery life on both your phone and the tools. For example, during a gas furnace workflow, measureQuick connects to the combustion analyzer only when the combustion step is activated, then disconnects when that step completes. You may see brief connect/disconnect activity in the Probe Manager; this is normal behavior.

Sunset tools still function but are not updated

BluFlame, Bacharach Fyrite, and Fieldpiece Wireless Scale are marked "Sunset." They still work with measureQuick if you own them, but they no longer receive firmware or compatibility updates. Plan to replace sunset tools when they reach end of life.

More connected probes means better diagnostics

measureQuick requires a minimum of 9 physical probe channels for cooling/heating Vitals scoring and 7 for gas furnace Vitals. Connecting more probes gives the app more data points to work with, which produces more accurate diagnostics and a more complete test record.
