Connection Methods

Before reviewing the probe tables, understand the two primary ways probes communicate with measureQuick:

  • Direct BLE - The probe pairs directly with measureQuick via Bluetooth Low Energy. Data streams in real time. Most probes use this method.
  • App-to-App - The probe connects to the manufacturer's companion app first. That app shares data with measureQuick. Both apps must remain open on your device during testing.

A third method, QR Code, applies only to the sunset Bacharach Fyrite combustion analyzer and is not covered here.


Fieldpiece

Fieldpiece probes use the JobLink wireless system with a rated range of 1,000+ feet, the longest BLE range of any compatible manufacturer. All connect via Direct BLE.

SMAN manifolds appear as a single device in measureQuick. Wired temperature probes plugged into the manifold's thermocouple ports report through the manifold connection, not as separate Bluetooth devices. Wireless JobLink probes (JL3PC, JL3PR) are separate BLE devices.

[Visual Reference] A Fieldpiece JobLink wireless probe kit includes individual probes (JL3PC pipe clamp, JL3PR psychrometer, JL3RH humidity probe) alongside an SMAN digital manifold. Each JobLink probe is a small, standalone Bluetooth device with a model number printed on the housing. The SMAN manifold is the larger unit with pressure ports, a display screen, and thermocouple jacks. Wired probes plug into the manifold; wireless JobLink probes pair independently via BLE.


Testo

Testo probes connect via Direct BLE with a rated range of 350 feet. The Testo Smart App is required for firmware updates but must be closed during measureQuick use.

The TrueFlow Grid requires the TEC TrueFlow App as an intermediary. The DG-1000 connects directly to measureQuick via BLE and is also used as the pressure gauge for TrueFlow Grid measurements.

Both BluVac models connect to the AccuTools BluVac app via Bluetooth. The BluVac app then shares evacuation data with measureQuick through App-to-App integration. Both apps must be open on the same device. The BluVac does not connect directly to measureQuick.

Yellow Jacket probes have a rated range of 400 feet. Important limitations: The YJACK AMP clamp meter connects to measureQuick but does not transmit amperage data into the app. The YJACK VAC vacuum probe is not compatible with measureQuick.

Quick Reference: App-to-App Tools

Three probe systems require their manufacturer's companion app rather than connecting directly to measureQuick:

For all App-to-App tools, both the manufacturer's app and measureQuick must be open simultaneously on the same device. If the companion app is closed or backgrounded, data stops flowing to measureQuick.


Tips & Common Issues

Choosing between a manifold and individual wireless probes

A digital manifold (Fieldpiece SMAN, Testo 557s, NAVAC NX4) measures both high-side and low-side pressures simultaneously through a single Bluetooth connection. Individual wireless pressure probes (Fieldpiece JL3PR, Testo 549i, Yellow Jacket YJACK PRESS) each measure one pressure at a time and require separate connections. Manifolds are simpler for refrigerant diagnostics. Individual probes offer more placement flexibility.

Probe does not appear in the scan list

Confirm the probe is powered on and not connected to another app or device. BLE devices connect to one app at a time. Force-close any manufacturer companion apps (Fieldpiece, Testo Smart App, BluVac) before scanning in measureQuick. Power-cycle the probe if it still does not appear.

Mixing manufacturers in one test

measureQuick supports simultaneous connections from multiple manufacturers. You can run a Fieldpiece SMAN manifold for pressures, Testo 115i clamps for temperatures, a UEi DL599 for electrical, and a TEC TrueFlow Grid for airflow, all in the same test. The app handles channel assignment regardless of probe brand.

Maximum simultaneous connections

measureQuick can maintain 15+ simultaneous BLE connections. In practice, a comprehensive commissioning test uses 9-12 probes. Bluetooth stability depends on your phone's BLE chipset and ambient wireless interference.
